IT administrator will manage our company’s computer infrastructure and security configurations. Upgrading and installing hardware and software, performing troubleshooting to resolve IT issues, serving as an escalation point, and maintaining our networks, servers and security posture. Will provide support for all VirTra employees and locations, including but not limited to regular maintenance and upgrades on servers, networking equipment and desktops. Set up and verify backup procedures and maintain up-to-date documentation. Manage and Maintain user accounts in both on premise and cloud-based systems. Ensure that hardware and software systems work as expected.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor and maintain networks and servers.
- Upgrading, installing, and configuring new hardware and software to meet company objectives.
- Implementing security protocols and procedures to prevent potential threats.
- Perform security compliance operations, configurations, and documentation.
- Performs capacity analysis, monitors, and controls usage of storage space.
- Develops and performs procedures for routine administration including scripting, updates, backup/restore, shutdown, and startup.
- Will perform work under minimal supervision and handle complex issues and problems, referring only the most complex issues to management. Provides technical support and training as needed per incoming requests via the IT ticketing system. Include detailed notes on troubleshooting steps and resolutions. Work should be well documented and completed in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on multiple platforms including:
- Physical Servers, VM hosts, and virtual servers - Duties include ensuring backup procedures are in place and functioning, and routine patching and updating are completed on a regular basis.
- Enterprise data storage systems. Duties include working with the IT director to understand and troubleshoot the enterprise-level storage systems and how they function within the corporation.
- Networking Equipment – Responsibilities include maintenance and upkeep of Routers, Switches, and Access points. This position will work with the IT director to understand data flow through the corporation and how to install, configure, and troubleshoot various network issues.
- VOIP telephony systems - This includes server and handset support as well as contacting the various telephony vendors in case of an outage situation.
- Support various on-premise and cloud-based enterprise software implementations including installations, configurations and ongoing administration and maintenance.
- End User devices, including desktops, laptops, printers, and cell phones. This will include troubleshooting connectivity, patching, maintenance, and application support for corporate approved programs.
- Work with the IT director to plan, purchase, track, and configure IT related hardware, software, and systems as needed for IT related tickets and projects.
- Be available to work during normal IT workdays and IT maintenance windows as needed.
- Maintenance windows are typically scheduled during evenings or weekends to minimize downtime.
- Comply with department ISO 9001 processes and company quality policy
- Manage and log time worked daily by code
- Provide miscellaneous support to other departments, as needed

- Microsoft Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Ubuntu Linux and VMware vSphere 7.0 and later
- VEEAM backup software
- Dell PowerVault, EVO and FreeNas enterprise level storage systems
- Fortinet Firewalls, Meraki, Arista and Ubiquiti Switches and WiFi Access Points.
- Ubiquiti, Netgear, and other 1/10/+ GB large data transport and network switch programming
- Enterprise Software/Apps including Epicor, Salesforce, Adobe, Subversion, Powershell Scripting, Power Automate and Power PlatformDesktop PC, printer & BYOD support including Windows, Apple, and Android operating systems and Microsoft Office 365 MAM
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Frequently the employee will be required to stand; walk; sit and use hands or fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Working with basic hand and machine tools as well as small parts which require visual acuity and hand/eye coordination. Requires ability to work on items repetitively and sit for long periods of time. See details of objects that are less than a few feet away. Understand the speech of another person and speak clearly so listeners can understand. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50lbs.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as computer science and 4+ years working experience in the IT field.
- Fortinet firewall certification, preferred
- CompTIA A+ / Network+, Security+ certification, preferred
- MCSE, CCNA certified, preferred
- Knowledge of/experience with NIST 800-171, CMMC 2.0, DFARS 7012, preferred
- Knowledge of and respect for firearm safety, preferred
Additional Requirements:
- Full time position consists of 40+ hours per week; normal hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Exempt employees may be required to work additional hours as necessary to complete projects, meet deadlines, or support business operations.
